2024 Glide Wildflower Show

Compared to last year, we had beautiful weather for collecting.  Then it turned rainy for the show.  But the rain did not dampen the enthusiasm of the attendees.  There was a large turnout.

It was time for the flower search for the 2024 show to begin.
This fairy slipper surrounded by snow queen was patiently waiting for the collectors.

The showroom is all set as the flowers begin to arrive.

The plants are starting to spread throughout the room.

This year's poster artist, Serena Van Vranken, proudly shows off the framed version of her work.

Workers take a break for lunch.
There are 3 days of intense work involved in setting up and verifying IDs for the show.

Late Friday evening everything is ready for the show to begin.
We are ready for visitors.

The bachelor's button was beautiful.
This flower had not been in the show since 2016!

The thimbleberries were looking great.

Monkshoods had everybody looking.

As always, retired Professor Ken Carloni conducted a walking tour of the show.
By the time he finished the crowd had grown greatly.
His entertaining and informative comments about the plants kept attracting more and more followers.

We never know how much interest the book table will draw.
By the end of the show there were only 3 books left.

As always, the Noxious Weed display was answering lots of questions.

Michael Madson (in green cap) of Wildwood Nursery was selling native plants.
It is always a big draw among the native plant lovers that attend the show.

Steve Smith of Glide Revitalization was giving away Ponderosa pine seedlings.
Always doing their part in trying to help this community recover!

And It was a fabulous crowd.

And lots of pictures being taken.

Lots of people taking advantage of the opportunity to look very closely at the plants.

Eric Strauder is talking about the native plant seeds from his Elder Oak Nursery.
Lots of seeds were purchased this weekend.

Lots of visitors were checking out the show right up to the last hour.

This young miss is proudly sporting a wildflower pin.
She thinks this would be a good place to hang out when she gets a little older.
